Small Fire First

I have decided that maybe it is time for me to come into the 21st Century and start my own blog. Not real sure what I will be talking about but if I don't start I can never finish!
What makes a person decide to try doing that one thing that they have always WANTED to do but never thought they could accomplish? In my case, turning 40 last summer was what kicked me in the bum-bum to get it done. That and my husband's unwavering support. He even let me quit my full time job and find an easy part time job so that I could spend my off time writing.
I have wanted to write a romance novel since I was about 16 years old or so. I have been reading voraciously since I learned how to read. I even have a picture of me at about 10 years old or so with my nose buried in a book while life went on around me. :0)
When I was about 20 years old my mom gave me a book titled "How to Write a Romance and Get It Published" by Kathryn Falk. I read some of the book...put it in my bookcase and didn't pick it up again until just this morning. I wanted to write but I was too lazy to get off my butt and start the process.
Then last spring I wrote an email to Julie Garwood who very kindly wrote back and told me how SHE got started. She advised me to first find a local chapter of RWA and then start writing. I started and haven't stopped. THANK YOU MS. GARWOOD!!
Anyway...is there something that YOU have always wanted to do? Have you ever started? What would it take to get you started, if you haven't??
